Intelligent Biomedical Systems

Register nowMovement and mobility are basic aspects of human beings. Biped humans have been mobile using different natural forces. Invention of wheels was the major transformation in transportation on land. Floating on water using wood logs led to further migration of human species across the world for thousands of years.

Later the civilizations across world used domesticated animals for transportation of goods. This slowly evolved into animals being used to drive wheeled carts resulting in drive based transportation systems. By early 18th century use of other forms drive systems using natural forces to pull the wheeled cart like steam engine transformed the transportation landscape across the world.

With discovery of usage of fossil fuels and development of combustion engines based drivers for automating the wheeled cart in late 1800s led to rapid progress of transportation on land, sea and air. In 70 year automobiles have transformed human life unbelievable extent. This has led to high consumption of fossil fuels and resulted in polluted environment. At the same time with advancement in electronics, MEMS (Micro Electronics and Mechanical Systems) and miniaturized computing systems have changed the experience of driving an automobile with additional features like Global Position System, entertainment systems, sensors monitoring systems etc. This rapid progress in automotive research has now culminated in driverless cars and vehicles.

Alternative to fossil fuel based combustion engines, electric drive based engines have been slowly finding their way into automotive systems. Electric vehicle technology is not just restricted to land based transportation systems but also includes defense vehicles, drones, electric powered boats, ships etc.
Electric vehicles are less polluting and totally a green technology. Though electric drive based automobiles, drones etc have been slowly making their mark economically, there is large space to reduce the cost, improve the automation and intelligence of the vehicles.

In this context Pralhad P.Chhabira Research Center has framed new Postgraduate Certificate Programme in Intelligent Automotive Systems. This program is focused on grooming professional in multidisciplinary approach wherein they are able to work on embedded platforms and at the same time have in depth understanding of particular vehicle technology.
